About Mynome

It usually starts with a conversation. Someone says “close your eyes and picture a beach” and you realize they actually see one. Or someone asks what your inner voice sounds like and you say “what inner voice?”

That moment — when you realize not everyone's brain works like yours — is what Mynome is built around.

What Mynome is

Mynome is a cognitive phenotyping tool. It maps where you fall across five of the most well-studied dimensions of cognitive variation — how your brain actually processes the world:

  • Visual Imagery — from aphantasia to hyperphantasia
  • Inner Voice — from silent thinker to constant narrator
  • Autobiographical Memory — from SDAM to HSAM
  • Face Recognition — from prosopagnosia to super-recognizer
  • Synesthesia — cross-sensory perception screening

Each dimension is adapted from validated instruments used in neuroscience research — VVIQ, VISQ-R, SAM, PI20, and established synesthesia screening protocols.

What Mynome is not

Not a personality test. We don't measure preferences, habits, or temperament. We measure the basic machinery — how your brain actually processes imagery, language, memory, and perception.

Not astrology. Every dimension we measure has peer-reviewed research behind it, with verified prevalence statistics from large-scale studies.

Not a diagnosis. Mynome shows you where you fall on each spectrum. It doesn't diagnose conditions and it's not a substitute for professional assessment.

The science

Our questions are adapted from instruments published in peer-reviewed journals. The prevalence stats we cite come from specific studies with named sample sizes. We don't invent numbers, and we use “your scores suggest” language because a 2-minute quiz is a compass, not a lab test.
